If you want to start Open-source FEA with Salome-Meca 2017, the first step will probably be to install Linux Ubuntu 16.04.
No need to create a new partition, you can install Linux 16.04 inside a VirtualBox and use Linux directly n your PC… Amazing ;-)

some time before today, I was working in this way virtual box in win 7, ubuntu on vbox, ok
but the following salome-meca on ubuntu ??????, didn’t work , internet idem to download salome meca, I have salome-meca installer in windows. How I send salome to ubuntu.
I have a folder of interchange betwen win and ubuntu but doesn’t work.
Tell me how I solve these problems.

What I did is that I simply re-downloaded the file on the virtual machine…
I am trying to download the virtualbox, but it’s telling me ” vous ne pouvez pas (dés)installer Oracle VM VirtualBox 6.0.10 sans droits d’administrateur! Ce programme d’installation terminera maintenant”.
How can I solve this issue?

Seems like you need to have admin rights on your computer to uninstall virtualbox. Ask an admin to do that for you…
