This week I am going into one of the most interesting aspects of using open-source FEA, the fact that you can automate fully geometry and mesh creation using Python!
Yes, by automating, I mean that you can create a script and let it make all the hard work to create your geometry model from zero.
Automating Geometry creation with Python
Here’s the video tutorial:
What you will learn in this video:
- How to create a python script which will generate geometry and mesh
- The structure of the python file and how the commands are organized
- How to use the Python Console Salome Meca provides to generate geometries directly from it
- And much more
If after you saw this video, you have some recommendations or ideas of either things to improve or things you’d like to see next time, just leave a comment on this video or blog post!
Finally, if you find what I do eventually useful, don’t hesitate to let me know or to refer this article to an engineer friend, Thank you!

Hello,
I watched your study regarding automation for geometry and mesh creation using Python.
It’s very interesting and helpful.
Could it possible to write Python script geometry cleanup for existing model and followed by meshing.?
