It has been some time already since the last Salome-Meca video tutorial…
The next one will teach you how to model, mesh and simulate a 2D Quarter Plate.
And that’s probably one of the most important tutorials you want to follow for Salome-Meca 2017
Here’s the video:
There will be more soon, and especially a video about the post-processing part and how to display stresses…so stay tuned!
As usual, let me know if you have something to say or ask by writing in the comments
Hope you enjoy the tutorial

Really like your tutorials!
I primarily use FEA as part of predicting the fatigue life of different structures. FEA is very useful for determining the stress concentration factors at different geometrical changes in the structure. Im quite new to salome and code aster, but they seem quite useful for the purpose of determining stress concentration factors, which can be done by linear static analysis. If you have any tips on creating a model and mesh in salome, consisting of different parts, for example a plate with a welded attacment, that would be fantastic. What im wandering about i how the different parts are connected. I think it shoud be very easy in 2D by using points as starting point. But with 3D it might be more challenging… or it might not…
Thanks for your comment Vidar! This is a good idea, I’ll make a tutorial about connection soon :)
Is there a way to import a 2D profile into Salome Meca? I don’t see an option for DXF or DWG.
Hi and thanks in advance again for your tutorials, very very useful.
I am able to apply a uniform pressure on a surface (PRES_REP) but my problem now is to apply a linear pressure on a surface.
I want start from an edge of this surface with the max value and I want arrive to the opposite edge with the min value of this pressure. I think I should use AFFE_CHAR_MECA_F, but I am not able to use this option.

this is quite old so I hope you still monitor these comments;
I don’t unterstand how you calculate the stresses without providing a thickness of the plate.
