Pushover analysis is one of the performance-based design methods, recently attracting practicing structural engineers engaged in the field of seismic design. The objective of a performance-based design is achieved after the owner and the designer collectively select a target performance for the structure in question. The engineer carries out the conventional design and subsequently performs a pushover (elasto-plastic) analysis to evaluate if the selected performance objective has been met.
This tutorial explains the method and procedure for pushover analysis of 3-dimensional Steel structures as per EC8:2004. For this reason, the procedure for modeling and analysis were not explained in detail. For the users who are not familiar with the basic functions for modeling and analysis, it is recommended to review “Application1” tutorial before following this tutorial.

Hi Cyprien,
Thanks for the blog.
What are the hardware limits for Midas Gen solver? In how many threads it can do its calculations and who much memory it can allocate? Can it work with multiple physical processors? Can I refine the mesh and control how the building is meshed?
I am planning in buying that software in the near future and I wanted and I will thank you a lot for your answers since you work at Midas.
Kind Regards,
Diego Bustamante

Hi Diego,
I don’t work in Midas anymore, so the best for you would be to contact directly the people from the Midas office the closest to you…
For a quick answer, check this web page: http://en.midasuser.com/product/gen_overview.asp
Probably you should also check midas nGen which is the newest version.
