The term submodeling in FEA is used to describe a technique where large models are divided into logical substructures for simultaneous modeling. The boundaries between the substructures are defined early in the design process so that the behavior at one substructure’s boundary can be used as an input to an adjacent substructure. This technique is mainly used to simulate large mechanical systems, such as cars or airplanes and thus is heavily used in both automotive and aerospace industry.

Hi,
Submodelling is different than substrure. In a case submodelling use for after analysis of global model. This technique used for rechecke additional features like fillets, changes in features, materials and specially for fatigue analysis small region (fillets) change that save lot of time.
