RBE2 and RBE3 are basically rigid elements that are use to connect mesh sets together.
The name is similar, but there is a fundamental difference between them:
RBE2 transmits the displacements and RBE3 transmits the Loads (MPC Forces)
I made 2 videos that show:
- How to create RBE2 and RBE3 Elements
- The results in terms of displacements and forces
RBE2 Video:
RBE3 Video:
The material I used to create this example is here
Anil says
REB2 transfer equal force in all direction ,REB3 transfer force according to distance that is the node which near to REB experience more force and vice versa.
Manoj Subramanian says
RBE2 need not have to equally transfer the loads to all of its slave nodes. RBE2 must be seen as an element that distributes the displacement evenly which may not induce uniform nodal forces.
Anand Jose says
How is that the displacement is the same, but force is different on all the nodes.
F=Kx is the basic formulation right?
I’ve only started using FEM, so i could be wrong
YMP says
‘Cause K is all different.
Zhanna says
The DoF are not the same in your model. How can it be comparable? for RBE2 Tx, Ty & Rz, and for RBE3 only Tx…
