A piezoelectric micromachined ultrasound transducer, also called PMUT, is an electronic device capable to generate ultrasonic sound waves.
They have various applications:
For example, they can be used to measure a distance into a medical device for example.
The principle is quite simple
A small circular area build in piezzoelectric material vibrate very quickly under a voltage applied to it and generate such ultrasonic waves
So, how do you simulate such a device?
To simulate a PMUT device, I will use a software called OnScale, which is currently the best on the market to simulate such devices.
Here’s a video Tutorial:
In this video tutorial, you will learn:
- How to create a 2D axisymmetric model in OnScale
- How to generate the geometry of your model in the OnScale Designer mode using basic shapes
- How to assign time dependent loads and boundary conditions
- How to launch the Analysis and check the Results
If you have any question, please just leave a comment, I read all of them :)
